The National University of Health Sciences offers a doctor of chiropractic degree program in Lombard, Illinois through its College of Professional Studies. The program also is available at the university's St. Petersburg, Florida campus. The science-focused program offers a hands-on approach that includes one year of human dissection in the school's anatomy lab. Students also learn more than 100 procedures for chiropractic manipulation as well as business skills. In addition, they complete a year-long internship that allows them to train to diagnose and treat sports injuries and other problems. The five-year chiropractic program actually is the only program that requires a bachelor's degree for admission, according to the school. In addition, about 95 percent of the school's alumni continue to practice in the field. The school has offered chiropractic education since 1906.

The Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena aims to prepare students to diagnose and evaluate health ailments based on evidence and is recognized as one of the top programs in the United States, according to the school. The college strongly focuses on science, offering courses such as spinal anatomy, palpation, human biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, nutrition and even dermatology. About 90 percent of alumni owned their own practices or landed jobs at other practices within a year of graduating. The program runs 10 trimesters and includes internships, preceptorships and athletics rotations. The college was founded in 1908 and is the fourth oldest chiropractic college in the nation.
