The University of Michigan offers a doctorate in epidemiology through the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies that prepares students for careers in government, academia and other areas. New students have two parts to their programs that they must complete. First, in the pre-candidate stage, they must create a prospectus outlining the research they want to pursue and take a test. Next, in the candidate stage, students complete their research with guidance from a faculty committee.
