The program at Howard strives to "develop leadership skills for a lifetime," through leadership development, team-based learning, individualized supervision, careful management, and an emphasis on core military principles. Upon completion of Howard's ROTC program, graduates are awarded a second lieutenant's commission. From there, their options for service include active, reserve duty in the Army and Army National Guard assignments.
NROTC Berkeley is one of the oldest and most respected naval ROTC units in America. During WWII, the famed admiral Nimitz led this historic NROTC center. To this day, NROTC Berkeley equips participants in all the areas necessary for successful and sustained leadership in the Navy. Located in East Lansing, Michigan, Michigan State University offers Air Force ROTC. This comprehensive training program equips MSU students to become officers in the Air Force. Graduates of the program are fully qualified for an Air Force commission. Detachment 380's program seeks to encourage student involvement and leadership skills. Even the classes require students to be active and assertive in discussion. In addition, over the four years, cadets become more and more involved in the management of their fellow cadets through a "leadership laboratory" approach. ROTC participants can expect intense physical training, real-world leadership projects, field trips to Air Force bases, some in-air time in orientation flights and a well-rounded extracurricular experience.
