The Watson-Brown Foundation was established in 1970 with the primary goal of making college education available to underprivileged students in 16 specific Georgia and South Carolina counties. The foundation carries out this mission by awarding annual scholarships in the amounts of $3,000 and $5,000; scholarships are both merit- and need-based. In order to qualify, students must reside in one of the 16 Georgia and South Carolina counties specific on the foundation website, and can attend any four-year accredited college or university in the United States.

The Georgia's HOPE Scholarship is awarded to accomplished students who reside and attend school in the state of Georgia. In order to qualify for the Georgia HOPE Scholarship, students must graduate from high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students must also be enrolled in a public, private, or technical college or university in Georgia, and be able to prove Georgia residency. Scholarship amount varies, depending on the type of institution in with the student is enrolled, as well as on the student's specific enrollment type.

Since 1985, the Georgia Engineering Foundation has awarded scholarships to Georgia students who are working toward a career in either engineering or engineering technology. Scholarship amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000, and are merit-based. In order to be eligible, students must be a resident of Georgia and enrolled in an ABET-Accredited undergraduate or graduate program. In 2009, 39 scholarships were awarded by the Georgia Engineering Foundation; 600 scholarships have been granted since the scholarship program's beginning.
