The Diverse Minds Youth Writing Challenge is a writing scholarship provided by B'nai B'rith International. The program seeks to help students pay for college while also promoting equality and tolerance for all people irrespective of national origin, race, gender, sexual orientation or religion. Students applying for the scholarship illustrate and write a children's book fostering these values. The book should not only educate children about tolerance, but also provide a new look at issues of tolerance among the authors. The scholarship includes an award of $5,000 for one student in each city where there is a local chapter of B'nai B'rith.

The Excellence In Writing Competition is a scholarship for high school students in central Texas provided by the Austin American-Statesman. The essay contest is held every year and awards nine students scholarships of as much as $1,500. The scholarship is a one-time award and may not be renewed. Essay topics vary by year and are available at the scholarship's website. Students should research the essay topic and write an editorial on the subject. The Matters of Life and Death Writing Contest is a scholarship contest under the auspices of Compassion and Choices of Northern California. California high school students in their junior or senior year are eligible. The aim of the scholarship is to help students pay for college while educating them about issues of aid in dying. Aid in dying refers to practices used to help terminally ill patients live out their final days in relative comfort, control and dignity. The topic of the essay varies by year. The contest awards scholarships of $1,000 for the first place essay, $500 for the second and $250 for the third.

The New York Financial Writers' Association provides a various scholarships for New York City-area students committed to seeking careers in the field of financial and business journalism.
