Antenna gain (sometimes referred to as "AG") is a mathematical value that measures the relative intensity of a particular antenna against the maximum theoretical intensity for that antenna. This relative value is useful in measuring how close the antenna is operating to its maximum potential.
Instructions
-
-
1
Multiply the efficiency value of the antenna by the physical aperture area of the antenna.
-
2
Take the value from Step 1 and multiply it by pi.
-
-
3
Multiply the value from Step 2 by 4.
-
4
Divide the total of Step 3 by the squared wavelength of the antenna. This total is the antenna gain for the antenna.
