The Nurse Aide Institute of Excellence (NAIE), located at 5224-B Sunset Road in Charlotte, was established in 2007. NAIE offers training for certified nurse aides (CNA) Level I and Level II as well as a refresher course for previously certified CNAs. The curriculum includes a mix of course work and hands on training. Students learn lab skills and nursing theory through on-going practice. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the examination for certification in the state of North Carolina within thirty days after course completion. This program offers flexible class schedules.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, located just north of Charlotte in Concord, North Carolina, offers a variety of nursing programs, including CNA training. Their CNA programs are short, intensive programs lasting approximately one month. The courses provide a combination of theory and practical experience. Students can train for Level I or Level II CNA certification. CPR training is included in both programs. Program graduates can take the state examination for certification. Graduates can also elect to continue their studies in other areas of nursing at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences.

Located just north of Charlotte with several campuses in Rowan and Cabarrus counties, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College provides another option for students seeking CNA training. RCCC offers Nurse's Aide classes for Levels I and II of CNA certification as part of its continuing education program. The Nurse's Aide I program requires 139 hours (16 weeks). Applicants must have a high school diploma. Day and evening classes are available. The Nurse's Aide II program requires a 14 week commitment.
