NEH awards summer stipends to fund various academic research projects in disciplines like American studies, Asian studies, philosophy and Latin American studies. The NEH makes the funds available for research projects to help promote academic fields in the humanities and for general audiences. Research projects that are in line with NEH's "Bridging Cultures" initiative are especially welcome. Candidates who receive the stipend can use a portion of their funding to produce articles, scholarly manuscripts or digital material. The summer stipend is open to candidates who are pursuing research at any level. The NEH only awards the stipends to individuals. They encourage faculty from historically black or Hispanic institutions and tribal colleges to apply. Candidates will receive a $6000 award, which they are to use for two consecutive months of full-time research and writing. Eligible applicants include teachers, researchers and writers who have completed their formal education by the application deadline.
