Information on CNA & HHA Training

CNA (certified nurse assistant) and HHA (home health aide) training programs prepare students to work as basic level nurses and health aides. While enrolled in these programs, students learn communication skills, medical terminology, infection control and patient care skills.
  1. Features

    • Students who complete a nurse assistant program can work in a variety of medical specialties under the supervision of physicians and registered nurses. Those who complete a home health aide program typically work at nursing homes or home health care agencies.

    Geography

    • CNA and HHA training programs are offered at technical schools, community colleges, hospitals and nursing homes. Often, the programs offered at hospitals or nursing homes will train you for free in return for you working for them for a period of time.

    Time Frame

    • Depending on the class, CNA and HHA training can last a few weeks to a few months. For example, the CNA/HHA program at Los Angeles Harbor College is seven weeks long and 24 hours a week, while the CNA program at Luzurne County Community College is a full-time program that is little under a month long.
