RCMP Personal Safety Training

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) works with the community to teach residents about personal safety. The goal of the RCMP training programs is to increase a citizen's awareness of potential criminal activities. Programs are available for children and adults.
  1. Children

    • The RCMP uses a mascot called Safety Bear to teach children personal safety at their schools. The RCMP also uses a remote-controlled, talking car, named Robo Car, to teach small children about personal safety. The goal is to increase personal safety awareness among children.

    Adults

    • The RCMP has several adult personal safety training programs focused on crime prevention and increased security. Adults are trained to organize effective neighborhood watch patrols to increase personal safety by preventing criminal acts before they occur. The RCMP also has a Citizen Patrol Program where citizens supplement local police departments by observing and reporting unusual activities.

    Wilderness Safety

    • The RCMP has a program designed to teach children about personal safety in the forest. The children are taught methods to prevent them from becoming lost in the woods. They are also taught what they can do help rescuers find them should they become lost in the woods.
