The training provided at Fort Lee's main transportation campus builds upon previously learned knowledge and operational experiences. This allows for students to learn the next level of transportation responsibility, as faculty teach the needed skills of distance learning and wheeled vehicle driver training. During advanced individual training, students will learn about transportation operations, traffic management and maintenance of Army vessels.
The Army Logistics University is one of several composite campuses that are part of the Army Transportation School along with the Academy of Military and Civilian Logistics Leaders. Lieutenants and colonels receive transportation military education regarding logistics and can take courses in transportation management coordinator, transportation captain career and transportation basic officer leader.
The United States Army Transportation School of Fort Eustis has training in marine watercraft engineering that can lead to the most technically demanding job of watercraft engineering military occupation. This specialized training facility of the transportation corps uses state-of-the-art technology to teach about operational vessel components, hydraulics and electrical laboratories.
The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy offers intermodal transportation and logistics education for Army training. Active duty soldiers, federal civilians and Army Reserve members can take courses in port and terminal operations, global logistics management and cargo security management through the Global Maritime and Transportation School.
