Kansas City, located in the center of the continental U.S., draws students from across the country and world to its various colleges and universities.   1. Mid-America Nazarene University

    • Mid-America Nazarene University rests on a 105-acre campus in Olathe, Kansas, only 20 minutes east from downtown Kansas City. The university as of 2009 enrolls annuallly over 1,750 students and offers over 40 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, counseling, education and nursing. The North Central Region of the International Church of the Nazarene sponsors the university. Mid-America Nazarene University belongs to the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The university financially helps students attending the university, giving 96 percent some form of financial aid.

    Park University

    • Park University started back in 1975 as an independent liberal arts Christian school. It sits in Parkville, Missouri, only 10 minutes from downtown Kansas City and 15 minutes from Kansas City International Airport. The school offers more than 40 undergraduate degree programs and online master's programs in business, communication, education, health care, music and public affairs. The Kansas City location joins 42 other campus locations in 21 states for Park University. Sixty percent of Park University students take a combination of face-to-face and online courses for undergraduate degrees, giving students greater flexibility to work while attending classes. The school draws international students from more than 100 countries, with two-thirds of them attending the Kansas City university.

    Rockhurst University

    • Catholic Jesuits founded Rockhurst University in 1910. The school rests on a 55-acre campus just south of the downtown Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Rockhurst boasts more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs in various fields, with over 3,000 students attending classes. The university attributes its 12-1 student-to-faculty ratio as part of the reason for its excellence in education. Rockhurst focuses on a commitment to serve the community. Each year Rockhurst students give over 25,000 hours in community service.

    Ottawa University

    • Ottawa University began in 1865 through the efforts of Baptist missionaries helping the Ottawa Indian tribe. Today the main Ottawa campus sits less than an hour from Kansas City. The school offers sites in other locations, including one in Kansas City at Overland Park. Ottawa offers both evening and online courses to complement regular courses. The Ottawa campus provides 20 undergraduate degrees, while the Kansas City branch offers nine degree programs. Both locations offer a Master of Business Administration degree. The Kansas City location also offers a Master of Arts in human resources. Ottawa University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches.
