Visit the academic counselor at the high school or college at which you plan to transfer. Discuss the specific requirements for transferring credits.
Submit your school records to the academic counselor for review. Your counselor will be able to determine which credits will transfer to your new school. All credits may not transfer. Speak to the counselor to ascertain what steps will need to take place in order to replace the credits lost, if applicable (e.g., taking the courses over).
Determine which credits you will have to retake. Calculate how that will effect your projected graduation date. Your counselor will be able to provide you with information on how to make up credits and tell you how long it will take. In some cases, your graduation date may not change.
Complete an application for the new school, if attending a college. High school students must have their parents enroll them in the new school.
