Colleges Near Rolla, Missouri

Rolla is a city in central Missouri's Phelps County. Set in the Ozarks Highlands region, the city offers a wide array of outdoor activities in and around its surrounding springs, forested hills and rivers. The city's parks system adds even more outdoor and indoor recreation opportunities. A university and several satellite campuses of other universities provide residents with an abundance of higher education options.
  1. Missouri University of Science and Technology

    • Rolla's only university physically located in the city is Missouri University of Science and Technology. This school offers degree programs ranging from baccalaureate to Ph.D. Bachelor's degrees are available in the areas of engineering, sciences and computing, business and social sciences, arts and humanities and pre-professional programs; they are generally four years in length. Graduate degrees vary in availability based upon specialty and vary in length depending upon the degree sought. Several graduate programs offered through distance or online courses or as certificate programs. The school has three residential halls for student, along with dining services, and an active Greek community.

    Columbia College

    • Rolla's campus of Columbia College offers a lower cost option for associate and bachelor's degrees. Several degree programs are offered online, as well, and include some master's degree programs. There are few specialized degrees; many are in general topics such as psychology, sociology or human services. Bachelor's degrees require 120 semester hours, while associate degrees require 60. This satellite campus does not offer housing options for students.

    Drury University

    • The Rolla campus of Drury University grew so rapidly in the first four years after opening that it was forced to relocate to its larger current location. The campus, however, only offers degree programs resulting in associate degrees; bachelor's degrees are available, but require online work and some classes taken at the campus in St. Roberts. Degree programs are available in areas such as criminal justice, environmental studies, paralegal studies and radiologic technology. The programs require a minimum of 62 hours of coursework for degree confirmation. Students do not have housing options at this campus.

    Metro Business College

    • The Metro Business College in Rolla offers associate degree courses, diplomas and certificate programs. Degree programs include accounting paraprofessional, business and computer specialist, medical billing and coding specialist and medical specialist; they require 100 or more credit hours and usually take six quarters to complete. Diplomas offered include accounting assistant, business and computer assistant and medical secretary; they require 84 or more credit hours and generally take four quarters to complete. Residential offerings are not available at this small college.
