The California State University (CSU) is a public research university with a central campus located in Long Beach, California. The school administers one of California's three public college systems, maintaining 23 campuses spread across the state. The University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine) is a part of the University of California System, and its main campus is located in Orange County, California. The school was ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top 50 colleges in the United States in 2009. UC Irvine offers the only online degree program available in the University of California System: a Master of Advanced Study in Criminology offered through The School of Social Ecology. The program requires that students complete 52 units of criminology coursework, which is typically done in two years.
