The University of Florida College of Engineering's Master of Science in Civil Engineering is offered as a distance learning course and can be delivered on the Web or on DVD. A bachelor of science in civil engineering must already be held by students entering the course, and a grade point average above three (on a four-point scale) is necessary. The University of Florida requires that three references and official GRE scores or FE exam scores be submitted with the course application.

The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering in Auburn University has a large number of civil engineering courses available for study through distance education. A total of 41 states recognize the credits obtained through Auburn University's distance education program. Courses are available on DVD-R. Courses must be completed in less than two years to be eligible for credit, and students must obtain a student ID number from Auburn University before attempting to enroll in the distance learning courses.
