Search accredited degree programs in environmental health and safety. EnviroEducation and the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council maintain databases of degree programs. Students who earn an environmental health degree from an accredited program have a 90 percent job placement rate, according to the Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs. Only students who graduate from an accredited program are eligible for environmental health and safety jobs with the federal government.
Apply to the program of your choice as well as to one or two back-up schools. Complete the online application and submit transcripts, resume and information on any related experience in environmental health and safety. Schools expect students seeking a master's degree to have experience in the field.
Call your school's office of admission. Ask an admissions representative whether any courses you have taken at other universities will count toward the environmental health and safety degree.
Complete the requirements of the program. An online bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety will take three to four years to complete, while an online master's degree will take one to two. Tuition varies widely from program to program. For example, as of August 2010 tuition at Oregon State's ecampus is $235 per credit hour, while tuition at the University of Denver's online campus is $468 per credit hour.
