The ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) requires all candidates for certification to submit a completed medical history form. The form can be found on the ABMS website. You will need to provide information about your past and present medical history, as well as any history of substance abuse or mental illness.
2. Obtain a physical examination.
You will need to obtain a physical examination from a licensed physician within the past 12 months. The physical examination must include a complete blood count, urine analysis, and screening for tuberculosis.
3. Complete any required medical tests.
Your certifying board may require you to complete additional medical tests, such as an EKG, chest X-ray, or stress test.
4. Submit your medical records to your medical review officer.
Once you have completed all of the required medical tests, you will need to submit your medical records to your medical review officer (MRO). The MRO will review your records and determine if you are eligible for certification.
5. Receive your certification.
If you meet all of the eligibility requirements, you will be issued a certificate of board certification in anesthesiology.
Some tips for completing the medical process for anesthesiologists:
* Start early. The medical process can take several months, so it is important to start early.
* Be thorough. When completing your medical forms, be sure to provide complete and accurate information.
* Be honest. Do not hide any medical conditions or history of substance abuse or mental illness.
* Follow instructions. Carefully follow all of the instructions provided by your certifying board and MRO.
