California is the only state in the country that lets you sit for its bar exam after you have taken courses and graduated from an online law school. So, if you live in the state, or are willing to move there, you'll have the option of taking law courses online; and if you meet other criteria such as demonstrating that you have a moral character and have a grasp of the job of being an attorney, you can sit for the

California Bar Exam.
  1. Northwestern California University School of Law

    • Established in 1982, Northwestern California University School of Law is sanctioned by the California Bar Association to teach the law of the state in which the student will practice, in front of the courts in that state and all federal courts including the Supreme Court. Unlike typical law schools where the student must attend classes for three years, the curriculum at this school is a year longer. After having completed the first two years, the student will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Law, but a degree of Juris Doctor will be conferred to students completing the full four year program.

    Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy

    • This online law school in Fresno, California, took its first students in 1994, and the curriculum is based on the truths of the Declaration of Independence. Oak Brook College of Law has graduated in excess of 200 students as of 2010 and a higher percentage of Oak Brook students have passed the California Bar exam that any other online law school in California. Besides the law program offered by the school, this program qualifies a student for California's Certified Paralegal/Legal Assistant Examination.

    MD Kirk School of Law

    • The MD Kirk School of Law operates in Los Angeles, California and had its first application in 2005. To be a student at this law school, you must have graduated from college and you must be proficient in English. You need not take the LSAT exam because your score is not required for admission. Although much of the coursework is online, a student may also attend class at the school. The school will work with the student to make courses fit a busy schedule.

    University of Honolulu School of Law

    • Unlike regular law schools that are on the semester or quarter systems, you can apply to the University of Honolulu Law School on the first of any month. This school is in Modesto, California, and it began operating in 1992. You only need to have completed a two-year college program culminating with an Associate of Arts degree to apply to this school. In addition, you must have two transcripts sent from the college or university you attended along with a completed application and $45 that is non-refundable.
