    • 1

Gather your personal information. The college you attended will need to know your full name, Social Security number, your address, the degree you received and the year you graduated.

    • 2

Telephone your college's registrar, or visit its Web site. Some sites will have downloadable forms that can be mailed in, while others will allow you to request the information online. Others will require you to contact them directly or in writing.

    • 3

Fill out any required forms, and pay any required fees. Some schools will charge a modest cost to provide a new copy of the diploma, while others are higher. Virginia Tech, for example, requires a $20 fee, while Harvard charges $150.

    • 4

Wait for the copy to arrive. Because of the volume of calls and the internal work that the registrar's office has, your request could take two to three weeks to be fulfilled.
