How to Get a Student Loan for SCAD

The Savannah College of Art and Design, or SCAD, is located in several countries. In the U.S., the college has two campuses, one in Savannah, Georgia, and one in Atlanta. For those interested in a career in design, fashion, fine arts, media and more, SCAD offers comprehensive courses to obtain your bachelor's degree. It also offers a variety of Master's degrees, including a Master of Architecture, Master of Arts and Master of Fine Arts. SCAD is a private university, so the tuition can be a hurdle, but the availability of student loans makes SCAD a great option.

Instructions

Complete the FAFSA form. The FAFSA, or Federal Application For Student Aid, is a free application that can be found on the website for the United States Department of Education. SCAD can provide you with the student code to complete the FAFSA.

    • 2

Decide if you want to apply for more than the government student loan that may be rewarded through the FAFSA. There are several loans that you may be eligible for with the FAFSA, some need-based and others, like the parent loan, is strictly based on credit. If you would like to apply to additional sources, there are alternative loans that can be applied for at banks and other private lenders.

    • 3

Wait for the receipt of your student aid report. This report will come out after the FAFSA has been received and will let you know what loans you are eligible for and what your next step should be. It will also include additional paperwork for the loans that you are eligible for.

    • 4

Fill out all loan paperwork, including any additional loans you may be taking out. SCAD does offer some scholarships for academically gifted students. If you are applying for these as well, you will need to fill out the appropriate paperwork. You may also have some loan material that needs to be completed or signed by your parents.

Pay your tuition when funds are received. Many times, the loan companies will send you the money personally. When they do so, please keep in mind that this money needs to be used wisely, as you will be responsible for repaying it.
