Requirements to Get Into Villanova University

Villanova University is a private Catholic university located in southeastern Pennsylvania. Each year, the University receives upwards of 14,000 applications. Not all students who apply are selected to study at Villanova. Applicants are judged based upon their application materials. Admission officers consider academic performance, test scores, essays, extracurricular activities and recommendation letters when choosing from prospective students.
  1. Undergraduate Students

    • Undergraduate students seeking admission to Villanova University must complete the Common Application for Undergraduate Admission with an additional application supplement provided by Villanova University. Students must also submit the common application essay as well as an essay written specifically for Villanova. Undergraduate students need to submit standardized test scores from either the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). These scores must be sent to the university directly from the administering organization, the College Board. Additionally, undergraduate students need to submit their official high school transcripts and a secondary school report form, as well as a midyear report form to be completed by a high school guidance counselor. Students who speak English as a second language must also submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests.

    Transfer Students

    • Students wishing to transfer from another institution need to complete an application for transfer admission provided by Villanova University. Like undergraduate students, transfer students must submit an official high school transcript. In addition to a high school transcript, Villanova University requires an official transcript from each college or university attended. Transfer students must supply official copies of their SAT or ACT scores, sent directly to Villanova from the College Board. Additionally, transfer students need to submit an essay and a course catalog from their current place of education. Transfer students also need to supply a transfer evaluation completed by their current Dean of Students.

    Graduate Students

    • All graduate students need to complete an application and submit official transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate institution they attended. The requirements for admission into Villanova University for graduate students varies by program.
