How to Get a Nursing Degree

Obtaining a nursing degree offers career growth and job security. From 2008 to 2018, the demand for nurses is projected to grow by 22 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are various educational paths to earning a nursing degree. There are two-year nursing programs and four-year degree programs. Earning a nursing degree requires hard work, time and the ability to pass educational requirements. Successful nursing graduates are eligible to take the national licensing exam and become registered nurses.

      Satisfy the minimum educational requirements. Minimum requirements include a General Education Diploma (GED) or high school diploma. Classroom prerequisites include psychology, English, chemistry, physiology, microbiology, algebra and anatomy.
