Atlanta Junior Colleges

As one of the country's largest metropolitan areas and the largest city in the state of Georgia, Atlanta has attracted people from all over the world. Many migrate to Atlanta to discover the educational opportunities afforded by the over 20 universities, graduate institutions, colleges and junior colleges. While there are only two junior colleges in the traditional sense, some Atlanta colleges and universities have 2-year programs offering certificates and associate's degrees.
  1. Atlanta Metropolitan College

    • Found in southwest Atlanta, Atlanta Metropolitan College is part of the University of Georgia system. Between career programs and college transfer programs, Atlanta Metropolitan College offers over 80 courses of study. Associate of Arts programs are offered in several areas, such as art, foreign language, music and speech. African American studies, computer science, chemistry, history and physics are just a few of the over two dozen areas of study for Associate of Science degrees. Atlanta Metropolitan has certificate programs in automated office management and criminal justice for those not planning to attend a 4-year college or university.

    Atlanta Technical College

    • As part of the Technical College System of Georgia, Atlanta Technical College is one of two junior colleges in Atlanta. With over 80 courses of study, students matriculated at the Atlanta Technical College can study any of a variety of fields, such as business media, information technology and health and human services. Paralegal studies, accounting and computer programming are some of ATC's business technology degree offerings. Diplomas are available in visual communications, database specialist, marketing management and carpentry among dozens of other fields. Some of the fields that technical certificates are offered for include patient care assisting, culinary nutrition management and residential wiring.

    American InterContinental University Atlanta

    • With campuses in Florida, California and Texas, as well as an international campus in London, UK, the American InterContinental University Atlanta is located in the Peachtree-Dunwoody neighborhood. AIU Atlanta's School of Business offers an Associate of Arts degree for those students not interested in pursuing higher degrees at the university. One associate's degree program is offered, in the area of business administration. AIU Atlanta students can choose from a variety of concentrations such as criminal justice, human resources and healthcare administration to accompany their business administration studies at the university.
