The Royal College of Art was founded in 1837 as the Government School of Design and is located in the heart of London. It offers an equal opportunities policy, with a disability equality scheme and a race equality policy that eliminates discrimination and celebrates diversity among its faculty, students, and visitors.
The school's architecture department offers a studio with amazing views of London and facilities that include a computer lab equipped with Apple computers, PCs, printers, and two technicians on staff. There is also a workshop area that facilitates the use of wood, plastics, and steel for building architecture models.

The University of Bath traces its roots to the Bristol Trade School, founded in 1856. The existing university received its Royal Charter in 1966. The University of Bath's Department of Architecture and Engineering has, as of 2010, an average of 600 undergraduate students and about 100 masters students, with 35 permanent staff members and nearly 50 research staff and students.
The department has a building that is separate from the rest of the university, designed by the architects Peter and Alison Smithson. The building features various spaces showing different approaches to design and construction that students can experience and learn from.
One of the main premises of the department, stated on its website, is that if civil engineers and architects are to work together, they should study together. This approach brings a holistic sense to the education imparted by the University of Bath's Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
