Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management is the top-rated business school in the state of Illinois and nationwide, according to Business Week. U.S. News and World Report ranked the program third in the nation. Northwestern tops Business Week's rankings of the top executive MBA programs worldwide, as well. The Kellogg School is world-renowned for its production of top-rated business professionals through its full-time, part-time and executive MBA programs. Kellogg is also known for its high early job-placement rate of nearly 90 percent of its graduate students. These students are usually employed before they graduate from the program. The University of Chicago's Booth school of Business is the second-highest-rated business program in the state of Illinois, placing second in Business Week's national and global rankings and fifth in U.S. News and World Report's. The Booth School, established in 1943, has been a mainstay in the business community and a leader in business education for decades. Like the Kellogg School at Northwestern, the Booth School of Business boasts a high early-placement rate, at nearly 87 percent. The school offers both the traditional MBA and executive MBA programs as well as a highly respected Ph.D. program. Areas of concentration at both the master's and doctoral levels include finance, accounting, management science, operations management and economics.

The third-highest-rated business school in the state of Illinois is the University of Illinois---Urbana-Champaign. U.S. News rated the program 38th in the nation among all MBA programs. The MBA program at the university requires students to take courses in eight-week blocks one at a time during the first year, before moving on to focus on their areas of specialization.
