Prospective students searching for the best undergraduate business schools can rely on independent rankings. For example, "Business Week" ranks the top three undergraduate business programs as the University of Virginia, University of Notre Dame and the University of Pennsylvania, according to a complicated criteria that include student surveys, average salary upon graduation and SAT scores, among other factors.     • The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia offers undergraduate students the opportunity to study accounting, finance, information technology, international business or marketing. The application process to enter the school is extremely competitive and is only open to current university students or transfer students who have completed 54 college-level credits, obtained a high overall grade point average and taken courses related to business. Admitted students enter the business program in the third year of college, and they proceed through the school's Integrated Core Experience core curriculum.

    Mendoza College of Business--University of Notre Dame

    • The Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame offers undergraduate majors in accountancy, finance, marketing and management. Prospective students will be admitted to Notre Dame as a freshman where they will complete courses in the first-year studies program. Then, in the second year, business students begin courses at the Mendoza School of Business and declare their major. About 550 students are admitted to the school as sophomores. During junior and senior year, students will focus coursework in the major area as well as take elective business courses and general university electives.

    Wharton School of Business--University of Pennsylvania

    • The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania offers an undergraduate program where students begin taking business classes during the freshman year. Throughout the four years of study, students will complete more than 50 percent of the courses in business, while other courses will focus on the arts and sciences. All students will take business fundamentals curriculum, which includes finance, accounting, statistics, marketing and operations and information management. As a junior and senior, students take courses in a major concentration as well as electives. About 5,500 prospective students apply each year, of which about 500 are admitted.
