The Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked third in the "Business Week" rankings. Coincidentally, "U.S. News & World Report" ranked the Sloan program third in the nation at the graduate level. Although many associate MIT with engineering and physics, its business program has established itself as a leader among American business schools in recent years. This may be partly due to the outstanding economics program offered at MIT, which plays a significant role in the education of undergraduate and graduate students alike. Areas of emphasis within the program include management information systems, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing and statistics and operations research. MIT also offers a number of innovative courses that reflect today's ever-changing business climate such as neurotechnology ventures, global entrepreneurship and Islamic finance.
