Many plumbing programs are offered locally by smaller organizations. While not recognized on a national level, such organizations and schools cater to locals because they often cover state and city plumbing codes during training. For example, the APHC Backflow School in Ohio provides two-day and three-day seminars that help prepare plumbers to pass the State of Ohio plumber's license examination. Plumbers will be trained in venting systems, city and state plumbing codes, drainage systems, and reviewing code drawings. The courses are held at the school's headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Prospective students can search for similar programs in any state by contacting the state's plumbing certification office.
