The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, located in New York City, was established in 1859 and has become one of the most recognized institutions in the U.S. in undergraduate engineering. Like Harvey-Mudd and Rose-Hulman, Cooper Union prepares students for graduate study but it also sends a vast majority of its graduates into the field where they are highly sought by employers. The school's engineering program ranked just behind Harvey-Mudd and Rose-Hulman in the U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2010. Departments within the Cooper Union Albert Nerken School of Engineering include those in electrical, chemical, mechanical and civil engineering.
