The University of Central Florida College of Engineering and Computer Science was founded in 1968. Undergraduates and graduate students can pursue bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in 16 different fields of study within the college's five departments, including the departments of civil, environmental and construction engineering; electrical engineering and computer science; engineering technology; industrial engineering and management systems; and mechanical, materials and aerospace engineering. Florida A&M University and Florida State University joined to form the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 1982. As of 2009, the college had about 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students and five academic departments, including chemical and biomedical engineering; civil and environmental engineering; electrical and computer engineering; industrial and manufacturing engineering; and mechanical engineering. Students can work toward bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in 18 different fields within the college's five departments. Some of these fields include chemical engineering, materials engineering, biomedical engineering, optoelectronics, robotics and fluid mechanics.
