• The University of Central Florida College of Engineering and Computer Science was founded in 1968. Florida A&M University---Florida State University College of Engineering

• Florida A&M University and Florida State University joined to form the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering in 1982. As of 2009, the college had about 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students and five academic departments, including chemical and biomedical engineering; civil and environmental engineering; electrical and computer engineering; industrial and manufacturing engineering; and mechanical engineering. Students can work toward bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in 18 different fields within the college's five departments. Some of these fields include chemical engineering, materials engineering, biomedical engineering, optoelectronics, robotics and fluid mechanics.
