Idaho Community Colleges

Idaho has three community colleges publicly funded and administered by the Idaho State Board of Education. Community colleges are primarily two-year institutions that grant associate's degrees and technical certificates. Some Idaho community college students transfer their course credits to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor's degree. Idaho has several four-year universities.
  1. College of Western Idaho - Nampa

    • The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is Idaho's newest community college, founded in 2007, and offers undergraduate, professional, and technical education, along with career training, adult basic education, and community education at its campus in Nampa. It has 50 credit programs and even more non-credit programs. CWI has a partnership with the College of Southern Idaho and is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The college's service area covers ten Idaho counties, including Ada, Boise, Washington, and other counties. Some programs offered are nursing, applied accounting, marketing management, and surgical technology.

    North Idaho College -- Coeur D'Alene

    • Located on 45 acres on the shores of scenic Lake Coeur d'Alene, North Idaho College (NIC) provides a range of academic, professional-technical, and workforce training programs. It was previously known as Coeur d'Alene Junior College and North Idaho Junior College. It offers Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees in various college transfer programs, and Associate of Applied Science degrees and technical certificates in its professional-technical programs. NIC partners with the University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College, and Idaho State University. NIC's service area is the Idaho Panhandle, including Kootenai, Bonner, Shoshone, and other counties. It is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and its nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

    College of Southern Idaho - Twin Falls

    • The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in Twin Falls has 55 academic programs and 67 technical programs. It offers six different degrees or certificates, such as Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Applied Science degrees as well as technical certificates. Programs range from agricultural science and management to computer science and engineering. The college has outreach programs in Boise, Hailey, Burley, and Gooding and partners with the University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and Boise State University to offer upper level course work. CSI covers 300 acres. It serves the eight counties of South Central Idaho and the Magic Valley, including Blaine, Cassia, Jerome, Twin Falls, and other counties. CSI is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
