Michigan Technological University offers multiple technical programs of study within the fields of computing, engineering, environmental science and technology. Students can pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees in these fields. Examples of available technical undergraduate majors include electrical engineering technology, biomedical engineering and computer network administration.
In addition to academics, students have access to 200 on-campus organizations. These extracurricular programs are designed to develop leadership and interpersonal communications skills. Lake Superior State University features a diverse offering of technical programs. Several different academic divisions allow students to focus on their area of interest. These divisions include the College of Mathematical Sciences, School of Biological Sciences and College of Engineering. In addition to these areas of specialty, Lake Superior State University features an on-campus robotics laboratory. This lab is only one of three such facilities in the United States, and is equipped with 14 industrial robots which provide hands-on learning for technical students.
The university has 60 distinct student organizations. Other extracurricular activities are found at the campus student activity center and recreation facilities. The college is home to three residence halls, allowing both freshmen and upper-class students the chance to live on campus.

Northern Michigan University offers four-year undergraduate degrees in several technical fields, administered by the college's School of Technology and Applied Sciences. These technical programs include mechanical engineering, geographic information science and chemistry. Bachelor's degrees are available in each of these fields.
Of Northern Michigan University's instructors, approximately 80 percent hold Ph.D degrees. This helps ensure that students receive the best technical instruction possible. The campus of the university covers 360 acres, and includes the Seaborg Science Complex. This complex contains 24 laboratories, and allows to students to learn through hands-on experimentation. Recreation, sports, and housing complexes also are located on campus.

Bay College was first founded in 1962 and is home to the first Technical Education Center in Michigan. This center features several training areas, each designed to use hands-on methods to prepare students to enter professional technical fields. The college offers Associate degrees in such technical fields as pre-engineering and pre-molecular biology. These two-year degrees allow students to enter the workforce directly, or go on to larger universities in order to obtain a higher degree.
The Bay College campus covers 150 acres, and includes a full YMCA recreation center. This location offers recreation, child care and wellness programs to both students and local residents. Approximately 5,000 students attend Bay College each year.
