Instructions

    • 1

Enroll in a university with a four-year program in human resources. Various options exist, from on-site traditional programs specifically in human resources, to business degrees with a human resource specialization, to online degree options at traditional schools.

    • 2

Complete an associate's degree first, then transfer to a four-year program as an alternative route. Basically, most schools that accept such transfers will waive most general education courses, leaving you to finish your major courses in two years at their institution.

    • 3

Complete general education requirements. These typically include a few courses in the humanities, English composition I and II, a couple science classes, a mathematics class beyond the basic level, and a few courses in the social sciences.

    • 4

Take professional courses such as business communications, speech, accounting, management, business law, finance, marketing, information systems, database management, human resource management, compensations and benefits, and training and development.

    • 5

Maintain a minimum grade point average as required by your program, typically in the 2.5 to 3.0 range. Meet any other requirements of your program for graduation.
