The University of Pennsylvania's famed Wharton School offers business administration to MBA candidates and undergraduates. Wharton offers 20 specialty concentrations. The school states that it will prepare its students to administer and manage private firms and public non-profits. Independent study projects can also be pursued as an elective option if students find a faculty sponsor.

In addition to having a reputation for being one of the best science and technology universities in the world, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is tied for the second best business administration program as of 2009, according to US News and World Report. At MIT, the program is referred to as "Management Science", and the school's undergraduate program was first founded nearly 100 years ago. Sloan's BS in Management Science involves a rigorous academic program that incorporates scientific approaches to resolving problems that arise in the business world.

The Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley offers undergraduates a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Students pursuing this degree are required to take all of their requisite business courses within two years of declaring their Business Administration major, and all coursework must be completed at UC Berkeley. Haas maintains that the goal of the Business Administration program is to prime students to become leaders in a wide range of capacities within the business world. In 2009, the US News & World Report ranked Berkeley and MIT as tied for the second best Business Administration programs in the country.
