Historically Black Colleges in North Carolina

Historically black colleges tend to be more numerous in states such as North Carolina, where segregation in education persisted before the 1960s. These institutions have established reputations for serving the educational needs of the African-American community and developing programs of study that, in some cases, promote the historically black identity of the school.
