Located in Ebensburg, Admiral Peary Area Vocational Technical School offers CNA training that includes training in first aid and CPR. Students learn about basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, infection control and basic nursing skills in the classroom. Skills are practiced in the laboratory. Upon completion of laboratory and classroom training, students complete 40 hours of clinical instruction while being closely supervised by licensed nurses at area hospitals and long-term care facilities.

Delaware County Community College, located in Media, offers a weekend CNA program designed to prepare students for a career working in long-term care. The course, which is ten weeks in length, teaches students about first aid, promoting residents' independence, ensuring residents' rights, infection control and basic nursing skills, including taking vital signs, changing bedpans and assisting residents in feeding and dressing. Students complete 30 hours of instruction in the classroom, 22.5 hours of instruction in the laboratory and 37.5 hours of instruction at clinical sites. To be considered for admission, students must have a high school diploma or GED, submit to a background check and have current medical insurance.

Located in Frackville, Schuylkill Technology Center offers a 140-hour CNA course. Students can choose to specialize in home health, long term care and human services. Topics of instruction include communication, safety, mental health, dementia, medications and basic nursing skills. In addition to instruction in the classroom, students partake in clinical rotations, allowing them to practice the skills that they learned in the classroom under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
