Founded in 1969, The American University of Rome is situated on top of Rome's tallest hill, Janiculum. The university is a private, liberal arts school that offers eight different bachelor's degree programs with 16 concentrations from which to choose. The undergraduate academic departments at the university include the Department of Arts & Humanities, the Department of Business Studies, the Department of Communication & English, the Department of International Relations and the Department of Italian Studies. In 2010, one full semester of undergraduate tuition cost 6,900 Euros. To qualify for application, students must have graduated from high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must have scored at least 500 on each section of the SAT.
