How to Cite Websites as Sources

Bibliographic citations--commonly referred to simply as citations--help readers locate the source of information contained within a book, research paper or presentation. They provide a range of data about sources, including author names, book and article titles, and dates of publication. Although specific requirements for the citation of website sources are generally consistent, the arrangement of the information varies depending on the style guide you use. Three of the most widely used styles--APA, MLA and the Chicago Manual of Style--each requires a unique format.
