Michigan State University has two separate offices to serve the needs of students with learning disabilities. The Office of Supportive Services assists students who may be at risk of experiencing academic difficulty by sponsoring programs such as UGS 101, which is a special one-credit freshman seminar to equip at-risk students with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful at MSU. UGS 101 classes are capped at 25 students so students can build a personal relationship with the OSS staff member and student assistants teaching the course . The Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities also provides services for students with learning disabilities, including a special seminar during new student orientation. Additionally, the RCPD sponsors a program specifically for learning disabled students that combines intensive tutoring, peer mentoring and training in how to use various technological learning aids.

Oakland University, located outside of Detroit in Oakland County, has a Disability Support Services office to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities. Students are encouraged to contact DSS as soon as possible to arrange potential accommodations. Some of the accommodations that have been arranged for students in the past include note takers, extended time on exams and textbooks on computer or CD. Students with disabilities may also qualify for priority registration so they can make a class schedule that meets their needs. For incoming students with ADHD, there is a peer mentoring program, where each student meets weekly with a trained upperclassman to discuss any problems he might be having in making the transition to Oakland.
