  1. Master of Education in Child Studies at Vanderbilt

    • Peabody College at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee offers a master of education in child studies through the Department of Psychology and Human Development. The program prepares students with an understanding of up-to-date research in child development and the skills needed to succeed in practice in academic and professional fields. Half of the 36 credit program consists of core educational psychology and research curriculum and the other half is electives tailored according to student interest and specialty. Only about 15 students attend the program at any given time. Tuition is $1164 per semester credit hour as of July 2010.

    Master of Arts in Psychological Studies in Education at UCLA

    • The University of California Graduate School of Education and Information Studies offers a master of arts degree in psychological studies in education. The program is aimed at providing graduates with the skills and knowledge needed for improving educational policies for the welfare of children. Learning takes place in the classroom and in real-life contexts including schools, homes, day care centers, parks and playgrounds. Students will learn how to apply their research abilities to situations encountered in the daily lives of children in various situations. Tuition is $9669 for California residents and $24,675 for nonresidents per year as of July 2010.

    University of Minnesota Master of Arts in School Psychology

    • The University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus offers a master of arts degree in education psychology with a specialist certificate option in school psychological services. The program is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Graduates of the program are qualified to apply for licensure as psychologists in Minnesota. Students will develop a background in general and educational psychology and child development and the knowledge necessary to apply that background to work in schools. The program requires two years of schooling and a yearlong internship. Full time tuition is $5606 for Minnesota residents and $9155 for nonresidents per term as of July 2010.
