The University of Pittsburgh's Institute for Clinical Research Education offers a Master of Science degree in the field of medical education. The University of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Children's Medical Center work collaboratively to offer graduate level training programs for medical educators. The school and hospital offer both a certificate program and a master's level degree program in medical education. The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is offered as an online degree program. Students complete 45 credit hours over a course of two to five years. The program is divided into three primary areas of study: adult education, educational research and evaluation and curriculum and instruction. Courses include areas such as human learning, introductory statistics, inquiry into teaching and learning, the application of technology for effective learning, addressing diversity in education and program development in higher education.

New York University also offers a graduate degree program in medical education. NYU offers a Master of Science in Medical Education. The program is designed to last approximately two years and requires 34 credit hours for completion. The program consists of core courses in medical education, conferences, a mentoring program and supervised teaching practice. The core curriculum allows students numerous opportunities for individualized programs of study. Courses offered as part of the program include fields of study such as introductory biostatistical methods, clinical research methods, teaching theory and skills, health services research, curriculum design and implementation, evidence-based medicine and teaching, science and human values and contemporary issues in science education.
