The Bachelor of Science in Entomology at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, a division of the University of Florida, is a completion degree. You take an existing associate degree and continue your studies to the bachelor's level. The course is structured so that you pick one of four specialties: Pre-professional and Basic Sciences; Biology Education; Urban Pest Management; and Plant Protection. The first of these, Pre-professional and Basic Sciences, also prepares you for studies in medical fields such as veterinary and dentistry. The Basic Science option prepares you for entomology work and graduate studies. The other courses groom you for careers in teaching, consumer services and agriculture, respectively.
You will take a number of general entomology courses, including Tree and Shrub Insects, Principles of Entomology, and Fundamentals of Pest Management. Degrees at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center are taught evenings and weekends, and are therefore tailored to the education of working adults. If you are not near campus, you can also take advantage of distance learning courses.

The University of Georgia offers a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences in Entomology. The course covers entomology, but also incorporates a general biology education that allows you to take work in other fields. The course's stated goal is to prepare you for work in military, government, academic or industrial laboratories, or for a move into graduate studies. It also fulfils scientific entrance requirements for professional careers such as medical school.
You will study biology from the molecular level to the environment in which insects live. You may also specialize in Biological Control, Environmental Entomology and other fields. The first two years of this course give you a general education in biology, chemistry, math and other sciences, plus general education classes. During your third and fourth years, you take 16 hours of entomology courses such as Natural History of Insects, Turf Pest Management and Urban Entomology. You will also take your choice of electives and an internship in a real-world laboratory or business.

The University of California, Davis Bachelor of Science in Entomology is a general biology degree with a focus on the study of insects. You can take major courses of study in Agriculture and Bee Management, among others. You study general and specific biology courses, including Field Entomology and Insect Morphology. Then you can either select an emphasis or opt for a more general education in the field. As part of your degree, you may take an internship with an organization such as the California Department of Agriculture. The degree aims to prepare you for work in schools, laboratories, agriculture and industry.
You must complete some general education classes, including English Composition, Chemistry, Statistics and Engineering. You will also take general biology courses like Plant Pathology and Microbiology. Overall, you will study for 180 credits over a period of four years.
