    • This technical college in Macon offers a two-year program that awards graduates with a Dental Hygiene Associate of Applied Science degree. Students learn how to properly examine the mouth for cavities, gum disease and other dental problems, and also how to educate patients about oral hygiene. Students also work closely with a full time faculty advisor from the Dental Hygiene Department. All applicants must be at least 17 years old, have a high school diploma or GED and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

    Sanford-Brown College - Atlanta

    • Students in the dental assistant program at this Atlanta college receive training in dental anatomy, terminology, pathology, chair-side assistant techniques, dental instruments, x-rays, and office administration procedures. The program includes three different components: clinical, laboratory and lecture. To receive their degree students must pass a series of supervised sessions in a clinical situation that will be evaluated by licensed dental educators. Graduates from this program can expect to find entry-level employment as dental assistants, dental supply sales representative, and dental office receptionists.

    Gwinett Dental Career Academy

    • This school offers a 10-week program that teaches students the basic skills they’ll need to obtain entry-level jobs as hygiene assistants, sterilization techs, and chair-side assistants in dentist’s offices. The goal of the program is to give students a solid foundation in skills they will later perfect on the job working alongside experienced professionals. Upon successful completion of the course every graduate receives a certificate of completion, an American Heart Association Healthcare Providers CPR certificate, and a Georgia Department of Human Resources Radiology certificate. The CPR card and radiology certificate are required to work as a dental assistant in the state of Georgia.
