The University of Central Michigan offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program, or D.P.T. The program trains aspiring clinicians in all aspects of the discipline, ranging from examination and diagnosis to patient care. Advanced coursework includes physiology of exercise, neuroanatomy in physical therapy, clinical pediatrics, manual therapy and kinesiology of human joints. Graduates can elect to complete the State of Michigan physical therapy licensure examination.

The University of Michigan at Flint offers a three-year doctoral program in physical therapy. Students must complete the final year clinical internship program with an overall GPA of 5.0 in order to receive their diploma. The program includes examination of human anatomy through cadaver research, as well as course work in clinical practice, procedural intervention and musculoskeletal examination. Administrative-oriented coursework also is included, ranging from professionalism and ethics to physical therapy practice management.

Oakland University of Rochester, Michigan offers several degree programs in the realm of physical therapy. Programs include a bachelor of health science degree with physical therapy concentration, entry-level doctor of physical therapy, master of science in physical therapy as well as a doctor of science in physical therapy.
