Founded in 1948, Northeast Mississippi Community College is in Booneville, approximately 20 miles from Corinth. The college offers 60 associate of art degree programs designed for students who intend to continue their studies and earn a bachelor's degree at a four-year institution after graduation. The school also grants more than 20 associate of applied science degrees in occupations that do not require a four-year degree, such as culinary arts, radiology technology, accounting technology, heating and air conditioning, electrical technology, and computer programming. The college offers online and traditional, classroom-based courses. Qualified students can receive federal and state loans and grants, institutional scholarships, and work-study placements to help offset the cost of tuition. The college also participates in the Army Reserve Officer Training (ROTC) program, which can help students receive money for college. A private institution, Blue Mountain College is the rural community of Blue Mountain, approximately 40 miles from Corinth. The Southern Baptist Convention founded the school in 1873. Home to around 450 students, the college received the 27th-place ranking from "U.S. News and World Report" among all baccalaureate colleges in the southern United States in 2010. The college's education programs are its highest-rated academically, according to the "2009 Barron's Profiles of American Colleges," while its Biblical studies program is one of its largest in terms of enrollment. The school offers internships in most majors. Around 85 percent of freshmen and 89 percent of continuing students benefit from financial aid while studying at the school, reports "Barron's."
