The Greenville Higher Education Center works in partnership with Delta State University, Mississippi Valley State University and Mississippi Delta Community College. The center offers credit and noncredit courses from all three institutions.
In order to register for a program offered by Mississippi Delta Community College at the Greenville Higher Education Center, prospective students must apply for admission directly to the community college. Application forms can be completed and submitted at the center, although official high school transcripts, college transcripts or General Educational Development (GED) scores must be sent directly to the community college. Additional requirements may exist for individual programs.
Mississippi Delta Community College traces its roots to 1926 and the founding of the Sunflower Junior College. In 1960, its name was changed to the Mississippi Delta Community College. The main campus of the college is located 30 miles east of Greenville in Moorhead. In addition to its off-campus center in Greenville, the college has centers in Indianola, Greenwood and Drew.
Mississippi Delta Community College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate of arts degrees, associate of applied science degrees and certificates. Academic programs are offered in business, fine arts, health and physical education, law enforcement, mathematics, science, social and behavioral sciences and humanities. Career and technical programs are available in a range of fields, including agricultural mechanics, automotive mechanics, culinary arts technology, heating and air conditioning, industrial electricity technology and welding. Health science programs include radiologic technology, medical laboratory technology, dental hygiene technology and practical nursing.
