Kutztown University offers a Master of Library Science degree that prepares graduates for positions in the growing library science field. Students gain many professional library skills such as organization and maintenance of multi-media reference collections. The program requires six semester credit hours of preparatory courses in library science and 30 semester credit hours of core courses. Core coursework includes library research methods, social sciences literature, school library media center administration, automated library systems management, creating multimedia collections for libraries, public library services, libraries and mass media and government publications. Students are also required to complete six semester credit hours of electives in other areas.

Students must complete 45 credit hours that include required courses and elective courses. Core coursework includes information organizations management, information organizations research, information systems foundations, information users and services and information resources.
