    Florida Center for the Literary Arts

    • Affiliated with Miami Dade College, the Florida Center for the Literary Arts offers a variety of courses for writers. From revision strategies, memoir workshops, writing for young adults and research, among other topics. They also offer two workshops in Spanish. The Center, which focuses on promoting reading and writing by presenting quality literary projects year-round, is located 45 minutes south of Miramar in Homestead.

    St. Thomas University

    • St. Thomas University, located 12 minutes south of Miramar, offers creative writing as a part of the Professional Writing program for English majors. Courses focus on mastering skills in business, education and social sciences, as well as the arts. In addition to creative writing, the college offers writing for television, grammar and rhetoric in writing, and writing internships. The program puts emphasis on creativity and self expression.
