"The Creative Writing Handbook" has named the MFA in creative writing at Lesley University one of "the more distinguished low-residency programs." The two-year program begins with a nine-day residency, which is repeated at the beginning of each of the remaining three six-month semesters. The residency programs involve participating in craft seminars, workshops, readings, and publishing-related events. The five concentrations available to students are fiction, nonfiction, poetry, writing for stage and screen, and writing for young people. Courses include creative writing, craft and reflection, and interdisciplinary studies.
